I conduct an interment service for one of our church member at Area E, Dasmarinas. This was my first Interment service and I was little bit inorganized. The family requested me to conduct this service last sunday. I shared a biblical reflection on our life, death and God's care for us. We read Psalm 23 as our scripture reading.

Is it rediscovering a worth trying/attempting?

I was talking to my congregation last Sunday about the need to rediscover ourselves. Once I came across a sermon by Martin Luther King Jr. about Joseph and Mary forgetting Jesus at Jerusalem during their visit when Jesus was just 12. King Jr. was talking about Jesus' parent forgetting him, thinking that he was with friends or relatives along. many times in our lives to, we thought Jesus is with us or at least with our people or congregation. But He wasn't really there. We are comfortably moving along with our lives since we the situations or circumstance is not that challenging. Otherwise we'll start looking for Him. We are slowly or steadily drifting away along with our own wimps and fancy. But have we really look for Him before its too late. Somewhere down our life journey, we might have taken a wrong turn, knowingly or unknowingly. Tenants in the Vineyard (Matthew 21: 33-45, Mark 12: 1-12, and Luke 20: 9-19)

No doubt, the parable is subversive and we can see that from the reactions of the chief priest and Pharisees. The parable posts a great challenge and need careful study. In most cases today, it was the owner who is manipulating the poor tenants. The tenants are the one who are tossing and twisting by landlord. Now, certainly we are not identifying with errant tenants in the vineyard. The great challenge here for a pastor is “where can we fit in to the parable?” We are neither tenants nor the owner. Who are we then? We are other tenants who will be given the vineyard by the Landlord! How can we draw meaning and purpose from such subversive parable is a great challenge. In the present world, the resemblances we can observe with that of the errant tenants are our politicians and those big business people who are money mongers.
