why Romans killed Jesus? Why Paul was killed by the Romans? Why others early Christian were persecuted and killed?
The straight forward answer is "they preached Christ Jesus - Son of God"
What is wrong in preaching Jesus Christ as Son of God? Do they hate the title or others don't want Jesus to be the Son of God?
Here is the vital information from the budding New Testament scholar Prof. Revelation Velunta of Union Theological Seminary. This is what I have learned from his class on 16th July 2008.
First, we have to understand few terms which were very important in those days.
1) Basileus a Greek term for "king". The Romans considered their king - Caesar as son of god or in other word they believed their emperor were descendant of god.
2) Basileia a Greek term for "kingdom". It was a term used by the Romans for the Roman Empire.
3) Pistis a Greek term for "faith" or "believe". In other to be member of the kingdom, one has to confess his faith in the emperor.
Now, all these terms were used by early Christians, saying Jesus is the Son of God and not the Caesar. Further, they also preached about the kingdom which is contrary to Roman Empire. And then they preached that (continue)
